Express Yourself!
As far as today is concerned, we are fortunate to be in such a period where everyone expresses themselves so freely. People are learning to be more unique and embrace their individuality earlier in life. You see them everywhere. They are the ones who don't look anything like you nor dress the way you or your friends do. In fact, they dress nothing like you, have different haircuts, use different slang, and carry themselves with a different strand of swagger.
Everything that makes us different, makes us the same. We listen to a certain genre of music, our dress is associated with that genre and thus our culture is formed. We grow out our beards, get piercings and tattoos, and most importantly, carry ourselves in such a manner that reflects our true self to the world.
It's refreshing to see such individuality accepted everywhere. The phrase "Be yourself" has been taken to a whole nother level. It's easy to see who's an imitation and who's original. I guess that's what this is all about: the art, the process, the magic, and the love of Originality. We push ourselves to create new styles and keep our cultures original.
What you'll see from Spicuous is the result of raw creativity embraced by cultures of our peers.

The Younger Culture Prevails.
When the topic of current trends is brought up, it seems the only generation spoken about is ours, meaning the Teens to early Twenties. This includes anything from what we wear to the way we dance and generally, what's hot now.
Every trend has came to be through a steady process of Evolution. An example:
Oversized throwback jerseys lead to oversized tee shirts. A group of young artists named "Dem Franchize Boyz" lead to "The Pack" with their street single "Got My Vans On But The Look Like Sneakers" which inevitably provoked everyone to wear Vans. Vans lead to skinny jeans, Levis 501's and so forth. I, along with many other people, despised the whole "Jerk" sensation but I have to respect the process of evolution. The "New Boyz" will be around for as long as The Pack was alive and soon after that there will be a new sound, new dance, and new fashion trends.
If you look at who's been headlining different industries, it's the younger generation that are more popular. Taylor Swift is talked about more than Beyonce. Soulja Boy [Tell Em] made more headlines than Dr. Dre. All the major corporations and businesses have gotten on Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook because it's the most effective way to reach out to US, essentially. Everyone's attention is on us! The younger culture prevails.
Hummer was just sold for $150M. Nike bought Converse for $305M. I don't have too many friends that own a Hummer but on the other hand, can you name anybody that doesn't own a pair of Nikes or Chucks? My point is, in these years, we are able to manipulate what we want to see now and shape the evolution of what's going to pop off for the next generation. The age group 18-25 is an important demographic for politics and businesses. To a certain extent, WE RUN SHIT.
Shepard Fairey of Obey created an image of President Obama and we embraced it on T-shirts, bumper stickers, hats and all that. We created "Brand Obama". We played a large part in history by doing what we know best; creating a culture.
A lot of businesses and companies wouldn't be what/where they are right now if it weren't for us. I'll name just a few: Jamba Juice, Pinkberry/Yogurtland, The Hundreds, Supreme, Twitter, Apple, Anchor Blue, Jordan, New Era, Nike SB, Creative Recs, Twilight/ Harry Potter, Vans, G-Shock.... The younger culture prevails.

Bubble Gum.
I decided to get some ice cream next door at Granny's Donuts when I found out there were nice looking women working in there. On a cold or hot sunny day ice cream is always good to eat. On a hard days of work this cheers me up.

UNDER DOG.
Most likely more people were expecting the Colts to take the Super Bowl, but I was behind the Saints on this one. They deserved it.

West Wing.
Yesterday we made our way to West Wing in Long Beach for a meeting with the owner to inquire selling our shirts there. West Wing is a botique/skate shop. Most of the time where you will most likely run into your local Long Beach skaters hanging out. West Wing will be Spicuous first botique where our apparel will be available in-store.

FREE CUDI.
From some website. "Hip Hop star Kid Cudi was not arrested on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, says a Tweet from Cudi's manager Plain Pat.
Reports of the arrest started surfacing after Kid Cudi was seen handcuffed on Fairfax Avenue, a popular shopping district in Los Angeles.
Apparently it was some sort of mistake or misunderstanding and Cudi was let go by police shortly after the incident."

Like Old Times.
Two Words. SPACE JAMS. If anyone remembers the shoe game a few years ago and how much it has changed over time, the Space Jam 11's reminds me of how the "game" used to be. Back then, every Saturday mornings were like Christmas for sneaker heads. There weren't as many retro Jordans re-releasing all the time, unlike now where I feel a different colorway of Jordan 1's comes out everyday. Back then, we'd wait months for a certain shoe to drop. We'd cop 2 pairs, "1 to rock & 1 to stock or keep on ice". The Space Jam's were definitely the sneakers of 2009. I believe the ONLY pair of shoes I can remember where people actually camped out for in 2009. Every kind of crowd was out for a pair of these. Into shoes or not, these were the classic Jordans every one favored.
